I grew up the second of six kids in Milford, OH, spending my early mornings hiking the woods and my afternoons racing BMX bikes. My motto: don't go home unless you're bleeding.

I learned early that nothing was going to be handed to me. So I went out and earned it: paper routes, reffing soccer, umpiring baseball, waiting tables, retail, a bike shop, grocery stores, and lumber yards. Every job taught me something about people, about hustle, and about the satisfaction of a hard-earned paycheck.

That foundation led to a football scholarship to Lindenwood University in Saint Louis, MO, and eventually a bachelor's degree in 1999. From there, I landed at Fortune 500 companies like Citibank and IKON Office Solutions, cutting my teeth in corporate sales before doing what any adventurous 25-year-old marketing grad would do: I moved to San Diego. The weather was reason enough, but the opportunity was even better.

I pulled into town after a 23-hour haul through a snow and ice storm, and paddled out into the Pacific the next morning to heal those road-weary wounds. A year later, I rolled the dice on a 100% commission job, leaning on my corporate sales and marketing background to break into mortgage lending. That bet turned into a 15-year career as a mortgage broker.

Then in 2016, everything changed. A MRSA infection left me paralyzed.

After a year or so of physical and occupational therapy, I built back enough strength to roll into the workforce again. But instead of returning to residential mortgage lending, I made the jump to commercial real estate: ground-up development, multifamily investment sales, and eventually mortgage brokering again, this time on the commercial side.

Across all of it, the skill set was the same: deeply understand what someone needs, create a clear plan, and execute. That experience forced me to be crystal clear on what I'm truly good at and how I wanted to spend my time. After rebuilding, I realized one thread ran through every role I'd ever had: helping people grow something they cared about.

So instead of fitting that skill into someone else's company, I built my own. Vista Creative Media is the culmination of all those experiences: the work ethic from the paper route kid, the listening skills from mortgage brokering, the numbers-driven mindset from commercial real estate, and the clarity that came after 2016.
